1SB SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
1stSecurity Bank is looking for smart, driven, and kind undergraduate students to participate in its summer internship program. This internship is for students with an interest in pursuing a career in finance, banking, or a related industry. The students will work in specific departments within the Accounting/Finance/Operations teams and have an opportunity to work with and be exposed to other departments of the bank, providing a well-rounded career experience.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for developing and implementing key metrics and measuring those metrics for bank-wide initiatives at the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The individual may be involved in the monthly creation of profit and loss statements by cost center, oversight and management of daily liquidity/interest rate risk positions, forecasting/testing/implementing new models to improve forecasting and improving current processes/reporting. The position will support the Accounting/Finance/Profitability/Operations teams in the creation of forecasts, analyses, and models by function and/or department, including Home Lending, Consumer Lending, Retail Banking, Services and Operations, and Commercial Lending. This position will require the skills to perform an in-depth analysis of specific business functions to determine project needs and may include building data analytics to support business unit requests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following
Regular data entry, importing, report building and report distribution Creating/editing/formatting financial reports and budgets Creating reports for business units based on specific data requests Assisting the CFO/Finance Manager with tasks to streamline Board reporting Analyzing assumptions to determine how bank model forecasts are functioning Creation of key metrics for teams at the Bank requiring interaction with cost center managers Responsible for working with business line managers to develop tools to assist team members with business analytics Assisting the CFO with new projects and financial reporting Developing metrics for managers (including monthly reporting tools) that assist with their management or product Reconciling processes and validating financial reports Assisting in creating structures to streamline and improve audit processes Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must be enrolled in college working toward a 4-year degree Minimum of 1 year of college complete or previous internship required Working toward a bachelorβs degree with preference for Business, Finance, or Accounting Strong Excel and database skills related to financial management systems Ability to quickly learn new business processes and identify key metrics Ability to quickly solve problems and create solutions based on set parameters Detail oriented with a focus on financial presentation Effective communication and interpersonal skills Strong time management skills with an emphasis on meeting tight deadline requirements
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office Products and have the ability to learn other programs.

The position will be located at the Mountlake Terrace Administration Office and travel time to and from this location will be required.
