Job Title: Tailor / Patter Maker – Luxury Brand – Waikiki, HIOur luxury client is looking for a Tailor to join their boutique in Waikiki, HI. The tailor is responsible for ensuring the proper fit, marking, altering, repair, and pressing of garments. Tailors are responsible for maintaining the company’s high standards of customer service and workmanship.Tasks and Responsibilities:Ensuring the proper fit of garmentsAnswering customer questions regarding alterations, fit, repair, cleaning, or care.Marking garments for tailoringSewing needed alterations within the alteration schedule provided to customerPressing garmentsRepair garments when appropriateMaintain orderly appearance of tailor shop and keep supplies stocked.Ensure that all equipment such as sewing machines, pressers, and steamers are well-maintained and kept in working order.Use proper telephone etiquette when answering the phone, taking messages, answering customer inquiries.Communicate customer requests to management.Help solve problems and make informed suggestions that affect the service, and productivity of the tailor shop.Hang and store customers altered and unaltered merchandise in a neat and organized manner.Participate in store meetings and training seminars as necessaryArrive to work at designated time and work full designated shiftsAny other tasks as assigned from time to time by any manager.Comply with all company policies and proceduresSkills and Competencies:Ability to provide high-quality workmanship in alterations, repairs and pressing of merchandiseAbility to accurately mark and pin garments for alterationAbility to understand all fit issues and make appropriate recommendations regarding fit and alteration of merchandiseAbility to understand garment care instructions and give appropriate advice with respect to care and maintenance of merchandise.Ability to provide outstanding customer service in person and by telephone.Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to others, understand material, and provide information to all employees corporate personnel and customersAbility to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentationAbility to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work varied hours/daysRequirements:Previous experience as a tailor, seamstress, or fitter.Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job, including, but not limited to, sewing machines, pressing and ironing equipment, etc.Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to move and handle heavy garments and garment bags throughout the store, which entails lifting, and perform all functions as set forth aboveStrong interpersonal, communication, organization and follow-through skillsAbility to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as neededWillingness to adhere to all company policies, procedures, regulations, and standards.Hourly Rate: up to $40/hr (depending on experience) If you or someone you know is interested, please apply and attach your updated resume!
