📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
The contract attorney will be under the supervision of the General Counsel & Chief Governance Officer and Senior Associate General Counsel within the Office of the General Counsel. The successful candidate will be highly skilled in comprehensive legal research and legal document preparation. Job duties include, but are not limited to, assignment of comprehensive legal research projects as directed by the Office of the General Counsel, reading and interpreting statutes, case law, rules and regulations, assisting in coordination all stages of litigation, assisting with drafting Department Orders and Director's Instruction, and other duties as assigned.
The Office of the General Counsel is seeking an attorney who is skilled at: (1) reading and interpreting statutes, case law, rules, and regulations; (2) conducting comprehensive legal research utilizing Westlaw and federal government websites; (3) drafting comprehensive legal documents; (4) time management; (5) use of Microsoft Word and Excel; (6) effective communication, both written and verbal; and (7) attention to detail.
Minimum of 3 years' experience as a licensed attorney, including experience in conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and conducting complex legal analysis.
Bachelor's Degree, Juris Doctorate Degree, and an active license to practice law in the State of Arizona and have a membership in good standing.
