Plumber

Job Summary:The Plumber will perform journeyman level duties related to commercial facilities such as pipelaying; repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures; sewer and drainage systems; etc.

Pay Rate: $37.55 per hourThis will be a union position

Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm

Essential Job Functions:Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specificationsUnloading and carrying materials to the jobsiteAssisting with the installation of pipe and fittings for copper, cast iron, and PVC/CPVC pipes, and for drain, sewer, and gas linesUtilizing hand tools and cutters to cut pipe to desired lengths and electric and hand threaders to thread pipeInstalling fittings and components above and ingroundLocates and diagnoses trouble in the plumbing systems or equipmentDocument actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situationRepair plumbing issues by replacing or installing componentsDetermine the steps necessary to assess an electrical situation using testing devices, blueprints and mapsMaintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements and also through reporting violations of policies, procedures and guidelines to immediate supervisorAnswer emergency calls quickly, assess the safety of the situation upon first arriving at the scene and provide directions to individuals affectedMaintain equipment to ensure it is in good condition and can operate or be used safely; report any issues to immediate supervisor

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:Journeyman Plumber License in the State of Texas (TLDR)High School Diploma or Equivalent3-5 years progressive, hands-on plumbing experience in a commercial or industrial settingAbility to read, write, and speak EnglishAbility to communicate with a variety of coworkers and government stakeholdersKnowledge of computers and basic computer applicationsAbility to read and understand blueprints and schematicsAbility to effectively complete tasks in a team setting or independentlyAbility to effectively utilize resources to maximize productivity

Equipment Used:Tools related to plumbing system maintenance and repair, test equipment, and safety gear

Working Environment:Work takes place in a commercial facility with indoor/ outdoor exposure. Employee may be exposed to loud noises due to machinery or equipment.
