📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Position: CFOLocation: New York, NY (In Office)Salary: $200k – 300k + Bonus
Mid-sized Law Firm seeks a CFO to lead their team!
RESPONSIBILITIES· Oversee partner and contract partner agreements, including performance reporting, taxation, compensation, and setting financial expectations.· Conduct detailed financial analysis and provide frequent reporting—daily, weekly, monthly, and annually—alongside proactive budgeting and forecasting.· Deliver strategic insights, comparing current financial trajectories with potential cost-saving and revenue-generating initiatives.· Master and manage software upgrades and maintenance, including Billblast, Aderant, ITimeKeep, Partner Dashboards, and sequel reports.· Execute strategic financial planning and forecasting that align with the firm’s long-term objectives.· Drive the firm’s financial performance by leveraging data-driven decision-making and advanced analytics.· Oversee the entire budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.· Build and utilize financial models to analyze profitability across clients, matters, and departments.· Foster collaboration with various departments and attorneys to ensure seamless, streamlined operations.· Lead, train, and manage the Finance Department, focusing on increasing efficiency and accurately measuring performance.· Provide cross-training for finance-related roles to maintain coverage during absences.· Develop and maintain financial risk management processes and strategies.· Ensure full compliance with all tax and regulatory requirements, as well as adherence to internal contracts and policies.· Implement process improvements, waste reduction, and sustainable practices within financial operations.· Maintain up-to-date policies that reflect the latest in industry technology standards and best practices.· Champion training and upskilling initiatives to enhance the financial acumen and support capabilities of the department.· Continually evaluate new financial technologies and tools for potential increase in efficiency, automation, and integration.· Support and improve billing and collections processes across cross-functional teams, including Partners, Secretaries, Billing, Collections, and Banks.· Manage and develop a team of 20, focusing on accuracy, productivity, and daily operations.· Oversee baemenking and credit relationships in the U.S.· Handle the payment of U.S. partner draws, distributions, and tax reserves, including performance evaluation and forecasting individual partner compensation along with tax payment requirements.· Prepare and file state tax filings, such as UBT, PTET, Sales & Use Tax and Commercial Rent Tax.
QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in accounting or finance.CPA and/or MBA preferred.5+ years of experience in a senior-level financial managerial position.Experience in a law firm or professional services firm desiredTech savvy and experience implementing a new accounting system a desiredAdvanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and financial reporting software.Aderant knowledge strongly desired
