📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
Our client in the real estate and construction business is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations and ensuring the company maintains robust financial controls, reporting, and compliance.
This is going to be an onsite position headquartered at their office in Walnut Creek. Some travel to project sites required.
Key Responsibilities:Manage the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and month-end close processes.Develop and maintain comprehensive financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets.Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and other ad-hoc reports for management and external stakeholders.Oversee the accounts receivable function, implementing strategies to improve cash flow and minimize bad debts.Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements.Analyze financial data, identify trends and variances, and provide strategic recommendations to the leadership team.Collaborate closely with project managers to monitor job costing, profitability, and progress against budgets.Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, tax authorities, and other financial stakeholders.Mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.Leverage technology to streamline financial processes and enhance reporting capabilities.
Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldCPA or CMA certification a plusMinimum 8 years of progressive experience in a senior financial role, preferably within the construction industryProven track record of implementing robust financial controls and driving process improvementsExceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailStrong communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively interact with cross-functional teamsProficient in ERP systems, financial reporting software, and data analysis toolsAdaptable to change and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
