📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
ResponsibilitiesContribute to the overall efficiency of the Pathology Department and laboratory service in a cost-effective manner by performing a variety of tasks, consisting primarily of gross examination of surgical pathology specimens and the assisting with Quality Assurance processes.The incumbent will describe and examine surgical specimens and prepare such specimens for histological processing. This position will also assist supervisory staff in a team effort to complete work in the grossing area in an efficient manner striving to optimize the workflow. Project management, budget development and maintenance, management of supplies and resources.Assist in all aspects of anatomic pathology and participates in seminars.Complex surgical resections (pelvic exenterations, whipple procedures, etc.) and autopsies including gross, PAD/FAD, and clinical summary.
Education & ExperienceBaccalaureate Pathologist Assistant program graduate; or successful completion of post-bachelor's Program from an NACCLS approved school of Pathologist' AssistantsPost-Baccalaureate training in anatomic and clinical pathology preferred Minimum 3-5 years of experience in pathology - surgical gross pathology, frozen section cutting, and autopsy.
