Responsibilities
Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, is seeking a Research Assistant to be based in our Atlanta, Orlando, Houston, or Dallas office. Working closely with the research librarians, this position supports attorneys and staff, and reports to the Director of Research Services and the Research Services Manager. Responsibilities include:
Maintain strict confidentiality of firm mattersAssist with reference requests and research while providing a high level of customer service via phone, in person, and emailReview research findings and write summariesAnswer questions from attorneys and staff and escalate when necessaryConduct public records, legal, and business research using appropriate electronic resourcesService, implement and maintain news, litigation, and current awareness
3+ years of research experience is required, preferably in a law firm environment. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. In addition to strong research skills, candidates should have excellent listening and communication skills as well as attention to detail. Candidates must be able to work independently and efficiently under pressure and be able to thrive within the firm's highly dynamic environment.
