Position is responsible for laboratory operations and related quality control / assurance activities at the New Johnsonville Plant. This role is also responsible for providing field and technical support to operations, maintenance, engineering and safety as required to complete special projects, audits, corrective actions, inventory control, mandated reporting and other needs identified by site management.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Supervise hourly laboratory technician(s) while providing technical support, guidance, and backup coverage. Must be thoroughly familiar with analytical methods and procedures as they apply in an ISO-9000 registered facility. Maintain all necessary ISO documentation per the ISO 9000 standards as pertaining to the laboratory. Manage and coordinate all laboratory analytical work and other activities such as setting key performance indicators (KPIs), time allocations, quality, requisition of supplies, repairs and maintenance of all laboratory equipment, maintenance of required service agreements, and timely reporting of analytical results.Supports, implements, and ensures compliance with all departmental and company policies and procedures including but not limited to Quality, Compliance with all regulatory entities, and Safety.Develop, maintain and improve the site QMS; ensure compliance with site policies/procedures and ISO 9001:2015.Create or revise Quality Manual and/or Standard Operating procedures as needed.Manage Quality Corrective Actions (LCAR) system; drive prompt response to open CARs and assure timely closure.Verify effectiveness of Quality Corrective Actions.Review change control documents for potential product/regulatory impact.Serve as site waste manager (hazardous and universal).

Education And Required Qualifications

BS Degree in Chemistry or equivalent.7+ years of laboratory experience or similar job-related experience. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.Extensive knowledge of analytical and data review procedures.Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite.Understands compliance management systems (ex ISO 9000).Ability to effectively plan and prioritize tasks and responsibilities as needed to meet established timelines and objectives.Demonstrated experience in effectively engaging teams, managing others, facilitating root cause analysis and driving actions to completion.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with ISO 14001 or RC 14001 preferred.Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred.Familiarity with the US EPA methods for the preparation and analysis of environmental samples.Strong understanding of applicable environmental requirements and permits, including air, water and solid waste requirements, storm water, spill prevention and control, hazardous materials, and chemical management. Ability to interpret regulations.
