Logistics Specialist

Allyn International is looking for a full-time Logistics Specialist in Houston TX 77073 to join our organization! The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing logistics activities in a manner that shall meet business fulfillment requirements in parallel with the goal of transportation cost reduction. The position is responsible for working with client’s head office and collecting and communicating all necessary information related to upcoming and ongoing shipments, projects, and services, as well as providing logistics support, consulting, shipment processing and obtaining best possible transportation rates.

Position Details:Location: Houston, TX 77073Work Schedule: 40 hours, Monday-Friday (Some weekend / after-hours support / on-call rotation required)Work Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM OR 9:00 AM to 6:00 PMPosition/Classification: Full-Time; Salaried ExemptCompensation: $45,000-$55,000 AnnuallyPhysical Demands: Sitting, typing, and walking around a large warehouseWork Environment: Office Cubicle / Warehouse

Required Experience and Education:Bachelor’s or equivalent college degree – focus in Logistics preferredInternational logistics experience preferred: transportation, customs, warehousing, supply chain principles, geographical concerns, political nuances of economic zonesScheduling and critical path management experience preferred

Responsibilities:Responsible for coordinating shipments with the plant production for the assigned region’s air/ocean shipmentsEnsures freight is correctly scheduled onto trucks in a timely mannerEnsure all cargo reach the packer in a timely manner for ALS movementExpedites shipments and provide up to date information to involved parties for assigned region(s)Coordinate with plant order management, warehousing and packaging and the Houston based logistics control towerProvide with customer service for all assigned regions during end of quarterIssue resolution and shipment responsibilityResearch and subject matter expertise in the field of logistics and transportationActively use either Allyn’s proprietary software or use the software chosen per the clientAccurately issue shipping documentation such as certificate of origin, customs invoice, packing list and certificate of insuranceReliably track and expedite progress of specialized shipments, focusing on project cargo such as trucks movement for assigned region(s)Capture all costs associated with a shipmentActively look for savings opportunities and added value opportunities when possibleActively participate in team meetings, conference calls, and daily project management calls with Allyn team and with the clientEliminate or minimize risk exposure for Allyn and customersMaintain online tracking and metrics toolsTrack and resolve freight claimsProvide excellent customer service to Allyn customersActively participate in team meetings, conference calls, and daily project management calls with Allyn team and with the clientIdentify and suggest opportunities for improvement or process changes where neededCross train assigned backup(s) to provide coverage assistance as needed
