📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER
Direct Hire
Merrifield, VA: First 90 days on-site – 2 days a week onsite hybrid thereafter
Salary up to $117,000 annually plus excellent benefits.
US citizenship is required. Candidates must be eligible for a basic security clearance.
ALTA IT Services has a direct hire opening for a Windows System Engineer to support a leading systems integrator on a civilian federal program.
Summary Of Qualifications
Must have at least 9 years of total experience and most of that needs to be in Systems Engineering Experience building servers from scratch (Windows 2012, 2016, 2019) Must have Monitoring experience (i.e. Big Fix, Nagios, Splunk, etc...) Must have Clustering experience (Both Physical & Virtual) Must have VMware experience. Must have scripting experience with batch files (in either SQL, C#, C++, etc...) Prefer someone with SQL Server experience. Experience in advising project management of possible approaches to adopt new requirements and implement them into software tasks to best fulfill expectations. Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to both software engineers, and field users alike, to assist in understanding, guiding, and finding solutions to both simple and complicated problems and software procedures. Work as part of a team and provide 7x24 support when required. Some analytical work as well Perform quality assurance. Define reporting and alerting requirements. Own and develop relationships with partners, working with them to optimize and enhance our integration. Help design, document, and maintain system processes. Report on common sources of technical issues or questions and make recommendations to stakeholders. Constantly be on the lookout for ways to improve monitoring, discover issues, and deliver better value to the customer. Training staff in how to use the new systems.
Expectations
Proven experience in eliciting requirements and testing Experience in analyzing data to draw business-relevant conclusions. Solid experience in writing SQL queries Basic knowledge in generating process documentation. Develop comprehensive application test cases. Strong written and verbal communication skills including technical writing skills. Determine and document user requirements for business processes.
