Automation Controls Specialist II

At Naval Air Station in Pensacola, FL the Automation Controls Specialist II is responsible for troubleshooting, fixing and updating HVAC systems and associated controls; downloading, updating and verifying software accuracy; and calibrating and testing HVAC systems and controls. Must be well versed in environmental energy equipment such as heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems, heat pumps, boilers, air handlers, variable air volume and mixing boxes, chillers, primary/secondary pumps, variable flow chilled water plants and related equipment, lighting control, security and access control. Must be able to edit PPCL and points in database in demanding situations.

Diagnose and repair electronic control system malfunctionsManage assigned work to meet professional execution, time, and customer satisfaction standardsReport problems or changes to management immediatelyInterface with Service Manager, Service Project Manager, and subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities in an ethical and professional mannerAbility to work in a variety of circumstances, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditionsAbility to work in a team environment providing dedicated support to our customersWork according to project timelines and required processesEdit PPCL/code on site in demanding situationsAbility to edit and create graphics preferred

Required Qualifications and Experience:Strong knowledge and understanding of the tools and techniques used to maintain, diagnose problems, and repair HVAC/R and associated electrical systemsExperience with programming, job start-up and checkout, and troubleshooting of building automation systemsAbility to diagnose and repair complex control systemsKnowledge of BACNET/LON/MODBUS protocolsKnowledge of DDC, PLC or similar Ladder-Logic programmingExtensive knowledge of multiple DDC systemsAbility to read and understand blueprints and schematicsAbility to work safely with hand and power toolsAbility to work at heights and on laddersAbility to work in confined spacesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamProficient with computersDemonstrate an attention to detailStrong organizational skillsAbility to safely lift up to 50 poundsValid driver's license and insurable driving recordMay be required to pass a drug testMay be required to work overtime, weekends, on-call, holidays
