Alexa Music team is responsible for the music experience for all Alexa customers. We define the customer experience for next generation of Alexa devices. Join us as a technical leader and vision setter working across Alexa, Music, mobile devices, and Internet of Things.

As a Technical Leader, you will be responsible for setting technical vision, creating team charters and being empowered to deliver on your roadmap.

You will own the end to end solution to deliver the best customer experience for music, podcasts and radio on Echo Show, FireTV, and any new Alexa devices with a screen. You will be working closely with business partners, product managers and engineering leaders from partner teams in Speech Recognition, Research Sciences team, Devices teams, and UX.

As Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in deployment and test of a range of products on the Alexa platform. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences, a strong ability, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. You will be helping to hire and build your team and systems.

Key job responsibilities

Responsible for setting technical vision for your domain and charter within Alexa Entertainment. Design and develop complex, interactive customer experiences. Develop a deep understanding of service tech stacks and guide engineers in best practices and extensible service design. Advise senior leadership of technical opportunities and pitfalls to ensure long term rapid delivery of customer features. Leading and inspiring teammates to raise the standards in the quality of the software they build. Continue to evolve our collection of services while reducing the operational running costs for your team.

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of engineering team management experience 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
