Reinsurance Placement Specialist

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Support the Reinsurance Strategy & Placement Department in reinsurance and retrocessional information gathering and transactions

REPORTS TO: Sr. Vice President, Reinsurance Strategy & Placement

LOCATION: Schaumburg, Illinois (Hybrid)

Duties And Responsibilities

Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and reinsurers, with significant participation in meetings addressing marketing of programs Work with internal stakeholders as the liaison between reinsurance brokers and/or direct writer reinsurers concerning individual treaty reinsurance transactions Assist in placement of reinsurance protections for AmericanAg™ in accordance with the company’s enterprise risk management guidelines Contribute to the review of underwriting submissions, program structures, policy language, and market quoting for reinsurance programs Work with clients, brokers, and reinsurers relating to all aspects of assumed and ceded reinsurance programs at AmericanAg™Maintain current, in-depth knowledge of the reinsurance marketplace – including industry activity and trends, state issues and regulations, and market developments – to provide timely and relevant information to internal and external stakeholders Coordinate with internal departments regarding treaty administration, compliance issues, and execution of conditions of contracts Organize and coordinate internal response to requests for transactional audits for corporate or state-specific reinsurance placements Track and analyze pricing feedback from internal and external sources

RELATIONSHIPS: This position works closely with almost all internal departments at AmericanAg™, and externally with Farm Bureau® clients, reinsurance intermediaries, reinsurers, and other business partners.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Required Experience And Skills

At least five years of reinsurance placement experience Thorough understanding of reinsurance contract language and basic reinsurance pricing concepts Extensive knowledge of the insurance market as it relates to reinsurance companies, product and service offerings, market pricing, coverage, and capacity trends, and the personnel in both the direct and broker market channels Understanding of the process of buying reinsurance, including submission development, finalization of reinsurance terms and conditions, gathering authorizations, signing of lines, and contract management Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Experience with reinsurance finance and claims administration Ability to develop and maintain good rapport Fluency with catastrophe modeling output Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially with Excel

PREFERRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING: Continuing education in insurance certification programs (CPCU, ARe)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires traveling about 15% - 20% of the time, with more travel taking place in the second half of the year. Must be able to work at our Schaumburg, Illinois, headquarters at least three days each week.

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $145,000 and $185,000 annually. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for an annual productivity bonus.
