Senior Claims Manager

AmericanAg™, a global provider of diversified reinsurance services, is looking for a Senior Claims Manager to work out of our office in Schaumburg, Illinois. This is a hybrid position working in the office three days a week. Travel for this position will be around 25-30%.

Reporting to the Vice President of Claims, the Senior Claims Manager will optimize AmericanAg™ claims operations by handling reinsurance claims through completion and provide customer service by being a main contact for reinsurance claim expertise and advice. As a trusted consultant to internal and external clients, the Senior Claims Manager will leverage their extensive claims and/or reinsurance knowledge to influence and direct complex claims involving exposures such as extra contractual obligations, excess policy limits, pollution, bad faith, workers’ compensation, and occurrence catastrophe.

Specifically, The Senior Claims Manager Is Responsible For

Conducting claim operations to maximize cooperation, service, and financial equity between AmericanAg™ and its reinsurance clients in the handling of claimsMaintaining working knowledge of reinsurance programs provided by AmericanAg™ and efficiently handling claims against those programs to ensure customers receive the full benefit by:Recognizing exposures and ensuring reserving is adequate and timelyIssuing responsible and timely disbursement of fundsSettling claims within settlement authority up to $1,000,000Consulting with and requesting approval of appropriate superiors on disbursements in excess of assigned authorityReporting necessary information to outside reinsurersProviding other operational departments with needed claim informationTraveling and providing education, claim review, evaluations, consultation, and/or assistance to each assigned customerProviding instructions and assistance to customers in applying their reinsurance program and reinsurance claims proceduresProviding subject matter expertise to internal and external clients through education, direction, and management of complex claimsPresenting comfortably, appropriately, and positively with senior managers and executivesSpeaking, participating in, or facilitating seminars and committees involving customers and the insurance industry to foster mutual education

What Is Needed For This Role

Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experienceCPCU designation or enrolled in courses to complete CPCUARe designation or enrolled in ARe courses – required to complete AReTen years of claims handling experienceProven knowledge of claim procedures, policies, terminology, etc., including coverage analysis background and knowledge of claims practices and insurance lawExcellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsStrong problem solving and analytical skillsAbility to manage data effectively through technologyAbility to prioritize and handle multiple assignments simultaneously and meet established deadlinesAbility to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Additional Experience And Skills Preferred For This Role

Five years of reinsurance claims handling experienceExperience working with claims involving extra contractual obligations, excess policy limits, bad faith, pollution, workers’ compensation, and occurrence catastropheExpertise in reinsurance programs and structuresFive years claims operations supervision

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $165,000 and $190,000. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for an annual productivity bonus.
