📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities

Retirement Actuarial Consultant

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both at home and in the Dallas, Texas Office. Will consider a virtaul opption.

Job Responsibilities

Manages projectsDelegates and coaches more junior colleaguesReviews work for both accuracy and reasonabilityTechnical leadership on clients, significant role in client meetingsAble to communicate on technical topics with clientsTakes ownership of issuesProactive in initiating and leading discussionsEnsures team follows throughHas mastered basic technical concepts and can apply to broader assignments

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise

Solid administration and staff-level client relationships; developing some relationships with higher level client contactsAble to answer client questions without reliance on lead actuaryCompletes some work through others (i.e. delegation)Play a role in client meetingsPrepare contribution requirements and accounting costs, with some oversightUpdate valuation runs for any changes and program provisions from scratchInterpret valuation results and provide initial recommendations to lead actuaryPerform more complicated or review more simple pension benefit calculationsCoach/train entry level studentsDemonstrate flexibility to work additional hours on occasion when client needs dictateDraft original materials (e.g. letters, reports, discussion guides) with some guidance

Technical Competencies/Skills

Have outstanding quantitative and analytical skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills.Valuation programming on ProVal systemBasic knowledge of funding methodsUse of valuation software, tailoring, and programmingMinimum and/or maximum funding calculationsReconciliation of liability gains and losses

Education & Required Experience

Academic background or aptitude in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics or Statistics5+ years of defined benefit experienceFully qualified Actuary (FSA and EA)Ability to work under pressure of fixed deadlineAbility to work effectively in a team environment or independently as the work product demands

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $105,000-$138,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

The salary range reflected is based on the primary work location. The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.
