Construction Sustainability Manager

The team is growing and they are hiring a Sustainability Manager in Dallas, TX and Phoenix, AZ. Relocation is offered.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for saving the world and doing it through implementing better practices within Building and Construction. The person coming into this role must have experience in ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) and in the Building and Construction industry. You must be a strategic thinker, have an understanding of reporting requirements and get excited about identifying new ways to reduce the carbon footprint and waste output.

• A degree in Sustainability is required for this position.

Role Overview:Responsible for all ESG initiatives to help Divisions move forward towards goal of leading the homebuilding industry in developing more sustainablyPerform site visits and operational analysis to identify opportunities and evaluate and/or execute initiatives in support of corporate ESG goals to including business processes, construction methods and building materialsResearch and identify current and developing technologies that can increase the sustainability of homes by enhancing waste reduction efforts, increasing recyclable opportunities, evaluating lower carbon alternatives and moreConduct site visits to verify quantities of construction supplies vs. budgets and all appropriate plans to make necessary changes to help reduce waste and increase recycling effortsEvaluate and communicate field take-off changes with Trade Partners, Purchasing, Construction and Architecture to adjust as necessaryAssist Purchasing department with community take-off set up, item number creation and JDE input with national assistance - helping other Divisions as neededCollaborate with Division and ESG teams on value engineering opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness construction, and communicate initiatives with all departments involvedConduct field audits to ensure Scopes of Work are being enforced along with quality control measuresAssist in storm water and erosion control with Land Development and Operations teamsMaintain and control trash containers throughout the communities with Construction and PurchasingManage energy efficiency metrics such as HERS scores, utility rebates, and plan analysis along with managing energy efficiency certificationsAnalyze rebate and energy efficiency impacts of potential equipment and technologies to be usedCoordinate Divisional Green Team and help educate employees on new sustainability practices – field & office

Role Requirements:Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Environmental Science or Sustainability (bonus: degrees in Engineering, Planning, Construction Management)3+ years of experience in residential single family or multi-family construction with a knowledge and understanding of residential home building disciplines and estimatingShould have experience in sustainable building practicesAbility to read construction plansKnowledge of home energy conservation and sustainability practices10 Hour OSHA and SWPPP certified (if not certified, must be willing to get certified)Demonstrated ability to work with external parties, trade partners, suppliers and industry peersStrong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsStrong focus on execution of plans and meeting deadlinesAbility to establish credibility, trust and build relationships with people of all levels, including but not limited to Purchasing, Design Studio, Construction, Permitting and ArchitectureForward thinker, self-motivated, who is not afraid to present ideas in sustainability
