Forklift Driver

The Forklift Driver operates gasoline/diesel or liquefied gas/electric-powered industrial trucks equipped with lifting devices to move parts/materials/supplies in M&O supply warehouse. Responsibilities include loading/off-loading trucks and receiving/issuing parts/materials/supplies. Position is represented by a Union Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Essential Responsibilities

Operates rubber tired tractor-type vehicles equipped with hydraulic- or chain-powered forks to load, off load, lift, stack, or move materials/equipment in storage yard or on construction site;Observes hand signals in positioning, raising, tilting, and lowering of forks and listen for signals;Performs lifting or material handling duties associated with this job;Performs loading/off-loading trucks at supply warehouses;Moves furniture (desks, office equipment, safes, etc.) throughout office/building areas;Completes related paperwork and computer data entry as required;Adheres to all Company EEO, affirmative action, environmental, safety, health, quality assurance, and security programs;Performs related work as required.

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience: Mus be at least 21 years of age: At least four years vehicle maintenance experience.

Technical Skills: Must possess a current Forklift Certification. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle. Possess Journeyman status per Union rules.

Clearance: Obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SBI security clearance

Frequent standing/walking while performing job duties;Frequent sitting, 30 to 40 percent of the time, while driving forklift;Frequent lifting/carrying 5 to 50 pounds of materials/supplies/office equipment; devices are available for assistance in lifting/carrying 75 to 100 pounds of furniture/office equipment;Frequent pushing/pulling using both hands/arms exerting a force up to 30 to 70 pounds, occasionally 75 to 100 pounds, while moving/sliding heavy safes/desks and other furniture items; also pulling hand trucks upstairs;Occasional climbing stairs/step ladders while moving equipment upstairs/downstairs;Occasional kneeling/crouching while loading/unloading and moving furniture;Constant use of both hands/arms while operating forklift, moving furniture/office supplies, and receiving/issuing at warehouse;Constant use of sight abilities, good peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye/foot coordination, and visual acuity in near-, mid-, and far-range of vision;Frequent use of speech abilities and constant use of hearing abilities in communicating with coworkers/supervisors and in maintaining a safe work environment while operating forklift.

Mental

Constant attention to detail while operating forklift in high traffic areas or working in tight, close spaces;Must be able to read/write/speak English;Must possess basic mathematical skills;Must possess good spatial aptitude and depth perception required in-loading/off-loading trucks with furniture and storing items in warehouse;Must be flexible and able to work long shifts on occasion and to meet peak times in receiving at warehouse.
