JOB SUMMARYThe Controller will plan and direct the accounting operations of the Company creating internal policies and spend controls. The ideal candidate will possess solid controllership experience within the apparel wholesale, distribution, or retail sector. She/he will be responsible for overseeing financial activities, ensuring accurate and timely closing of the books monthly, and developing insightful closing analytics. This role reports directly to the CFO. WHAT YOU’LL DOMonthly Financial ClosingLead the monthly financial closing process with precision and efficiency.Ensure accuracy and timeliness in the preparation of financial statements.ControllershipMaintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulations.Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecast.Reporting and AnalyticsDevelop and present insightful closing analytics to support strategic decision-making.Provide variance analysis and explanations for financial results.Utilize business intelligence tools to extract meaningful insights from financial data.Systems ManagementUtilize expertise in Microsoft D365 Financials and Blue Cherry ERP to optimize financial processes.Collaborate with IT team to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.Compliance and AuditCoordinate external audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations and implement necessary updates.Team LeadershipMentor and develop finance team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.Foster a culture of collaboration, integrity, and accountability within the finance department. WHAT YOU’LL BRINGBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA preferred.10+ years of proven experience as a Controller within the apparel wholesale, distribution, or retail industry.Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices.Proficiency in Microsoft D365 Financials and experience with Blue Cherry ERP preferred.Strong Excel skills, including advanced functions and data manipulation.Experience with business intelligence tools for financial analysis and reporting.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
