Job Description:· We are seeking highly motivated Product Engineers to join our dynamic team in Houston, TX. The Product Engineer I will play a crucial role in collaborating with our Cataract and Vitreoretinal R&D groups on development projects aimed at achieving R&D’s project goals. This position requires an individual with an advanced degree in engineering, preferably in biomedical engineering, who possesses excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with Cataract and Vitreoretinal R&D groups on development projects, including supplier evaluation/qualification, component qualification, managing prototype builds, and ensuring assembly processes are developed and documented.Support product transfer projects either into or out of the plant, ensuring seamless transitions and adherence to project timelines.Identify and qualify alternate materials and/or components for risk mitigation or due to obsolescence, ensuring continuity of supply chain operations.Maintain adequate supply of purchased components through effective communication with Procurement and Suppliers, and qualify tooling and equipment as necessary to assure capacity.Address component or product quality issues assigned, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement.Manage product labeling processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.Identify and qualify cost improvements to enhance efficiency and profitability of product development and manufacturing processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in English.Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities, with demonstrated leadership capabilities and self-starting attitude.Ability to quickly learn and retain complex processes, focusing on detail and quality in all aspects of work.Experience writing technical protocols/reports and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.Proficiency in root cause analysis techniques to determine the cause of issues and implement effective corrective actions.Experience in the Medical Device industry, particularly in Manufacturing, Design, or Quality Engineering fields, is preferred.1-10 years of experience in an engineering or scientific R&D or manufacturing environment is preferred, with a Master's degree in engineering or scientific discipline highly desirable.
