Software Test Engineer
📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
ASMPT-AEi is the leading supplier of high-precision, multi-axis active alignment equipment used in the production of camera modules, projectors, LiDAR and other optical systems used in mission-critical automotive safety and self-driving car applications.
The software test engineer will document and perform testing of software used to control machines that perform automated camera module assembly and testing of automotive cameras and sensors. Results of the testing will be reported back to the software development team for any corrective actions needed. In addition to performing software testing activities, the test engineer will also be responsible for configuring the hardware environment of the machine for the appropriate test scenario.
Responsibilities
Create and document test plans based upon requirements, design documents and discussion with subject matters experts.Review software designs, collaborating with developers to ensure testability and identify gaps in error or edge case handling.Identify the needed hardware configuration(s) needed on the test machines to perform software testing. Install needed hardware as appropriate for the test scenario.Execute software test plans and document results.Capture defects if defect tracking system including logs and reproduction steps.Develop regression test strategies and scripts to automate the regression suite.Work with developers and technical publications to verify and revise software manuals.Participate in engineering development project meetings to understand future testing requirements.Recreate customer reported problems on test machines.
Requirements
BS or AAS in software engineering, computer science, or electrical engineering.5+ years performing software testing for complex industrial equipment control.Familiarity with black-box test plan creation and execution.Familiarity with object-oriented programming and other software techniques that would enable gray-box testing of software.Fluency using enterprise scale bug tracking systems. Familiarity with Microsoft TFS strongly preferred.Basic electro-mechanical assembly and debug skills are a strong plus so that the software test engineer can configure machines appropriately for specific test scenarios.Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.Experience with test automation framework/toolsFamiliarity with Agile methodology
