The Sr Scrum Master role at Assurant provide effective collaboration, facilitation, leadership and coaching skills to the SAFe Agile development process and delivery of applications, as well as enforcing the Agile tenants, removing impediments, and promoting empowerment. Candidates must have exceptional communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, excellent judgment, and the ability to be productive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Understand the difference between SAFe Agile and Scrum and be able to articulate itProvide team with resources, information, communication, and practical advice to enable the team to regularly deliver working softwareFacilitates: Daily scrum (stand-up), release and sprint planning sessions, Sprint review (demo) and Sprint retrospective. Ensure all participants understand the ceremony's purpose and keep to the time-box.Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress Foster and encourage conversations and collaboration - both inside and outside of team – allowing them to self-organizeIdentify and remove impediments, prevent distractions that interfere with the ability of the team to deliver the sprint goal Understand and be able to articulate strategic and product planning and goals in the team's environment and progress toward themSupports Product Owner ensuring the product backlog is properly refined – prioritizing to maximize value and using creative techniques for elaborating user stories to be ready for the upcoming 1-2 sprints. Assist team with making appropriate commitments through story selection, task definition Ensure team understands the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items and achieve this through techniques such as user story slicing and acceptance criteriaProactively manage dependenciesUpdate agile tracking systems to provide transparency on Product & Sprint BacklogsRecommend improvements and assist in changes to best practice Participate in the agile community both internal to Assurant and external with other practitionersEnforces the values and principles of SAFe Agile by focusing on continuous learning and feedback loopsMentor and coach less experienced Scrum Masters

What are the requirements needed for this position?

SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) Industry certification is highly desired5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master for software development teams 2+ years leading in a SAFe Agile environment2+ years working with Azure DevOps backlogsAgile experience within a multi-team organizationExperience working with distributed, virtual teamsExperience coaching and mentoring other Scrum MastersExcellent communication, facilitation, and coaching skillsExpert understanding and deep tool box of Agile practices such as: retrospectives, daily standups, sprint planning, burn down techniquesExperience working with external teams and vendorsAbility to collaborate and exercise influence without authority

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

Bachelor’s Degree or Master'sInsurance industry experienceFamiliarity with lean principles and KanbanKnowledge of other project management methodologiesParticipation in industry SAFe agile communities of practiceUnderstanding of Azure Devops queries and dashboards

Pay Range

$99,200.00 - $165,600.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
