Who we are looking for

We are currently looking for a Shipper/Receiver I to be based out of Santa Paula, CA. Reporting to Logistics Supervisor, this person will be performing a variety of shipping tasks, preparing items for shipment via UPS, FEDEX, LTL by picking, packing, and sorting.

The ideal candidate will have a 1 – 2 years shipping, receiving and material handling experience in a manufacturing setting. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you’ll do:

Prepares shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; packs items to ensure safe deliveryPossess ability to pull and pack orders for both freight and small package shipmentsChecks items to be shipped against work orders to ensure accurate quantities, destination, and routingSorts packages, ensure accurate counts, labeling, and unpacks or logs inventory for shipment.May operate dolly, pallet jack, electrical strap tools, and scales.Manually loads and unloads supplies and shipmentsEnsure full adherence to 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)Apply proper labels with correct postage/coinciding paperwork correctly.Follows established departmental policies, standard work procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, safety and environmental.Collaborates and communicates with logistics office and shipping & receiving.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.Will take instructions from Logistics Coordinator and/or Logistics Supervisor

What you’ll bring:

High school diploma or equivalent required.One to two years of shipping/receiving/material handling experience in a manufacturing settingAbility to understand and follow safety proceduresAbility to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipmentKnowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenanceAbility to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers / perform simple arithmeticAbility to work basic computer softwareAbility to lift up to 60lbsAbility to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnelAbility to receive, stock, and/or deliver goodsAbility to multitask in a fast-paced work environment is a must

Within 3 months, you’ll:

Complete your Atkore immersion programUnderstand your team and your role within the team and how it will help delivery Atkore’s strategyUnderstand departmental and Atkore’s policies and proceduresPrepare shipments for safe deliverySort and verify information is accurate on shipmentsUse shipping equipment to load/unload shipments

Within 6 months, you’ll:

Pull/pack small and freight packages for shipmentAdd proper labels and verify shipments against job orders for accuracy.Effectively communicate within the department

Within 12 months, you’ll:

Ensure full adherence to 5S practicesFollow department standard work procedures, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety and environmental policies.
