Authorities / Responsibilities
Research and track legislative and budgetary issues impacting Austal USA and the defense shipbuilding industrial base.
Develop legislative proposalsMonitor and seek to impact legislative proposals
Represent Austal USA on federal and state/local legislative and regulatory issues.
Attend events for these stakeholders as a representative of the companyAdvocate for company lines of effort to government and industry decision makersAttend relevant trade shows as a liaison between the company and attending government officials and their staff
Support VP, BD & EA in managing Austal USA PAC
Develop annual PAC donation strategyTrack and organize donationsEnsure all compliance and filing requirements are metDevelop strategy regarding PAC disbursements based on the PAC strategy
Research and develop proposed positons for Austal USA in the execution of legislative engagement strategy.
Monitor the federal budget process and POM developmentPrepare papers, testimony, and questions for hearingsMaintain close contact with Congressional staff members throughout the year to maintain awareness of key programsMonitor 30-year Shipbuilding PlanMonitor Congressional activity relating to Austal USA programsPrepare programmatic briefs for use with Members and Staff
Support and lead Congressional tours and visits to Austal USA facilities as required.
Support Austal USA customer relations and business development activities
Support Director, Capture as required to execute capture plans through customer engagementDevelop relationships with key members of acquisition community and service resource community
Conduct market research and competitive analysis in support of business strategy. Support VP, BD & EA with research and analysis of business related issues as required.
Conduct research on potential mergers and acquisitionsAnalyze internal and competitor business strategiesResearch grant opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE
Five yearβs experience working in Congressional office, particularly with LD or MLA position functions and organizationKnowledge of the DoD, HLS, USCG and Navy budget processesAbility to succeed in a fast-paced and constantly changing environmentProven ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously Ability to listen to customers and act appropriatelyExcellent communication and outreach skills

Bachelor of Science/ArtsFamiliarity with basic shipbuilding operations and processesExperience in Congressional office with membership on Defense Appropriations or Armed Services committees

Additional Guidelines
Position is WFH eligible.Travel required on a regular basis, primarily (but not limited) to Mobile AL and San Diego, CA.Must be able to obtain and maintain required Security Clearance.Candidates must be able to provide proof of US Person status.
