ABOUT THE ROLEAs the Financial Controller you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the venture capital management company and the General Partner entities. In collaboration with our third party service providers, you will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, manage day-to-day accounting activities, and provide valuable insights to support decision-making processes. Additionally, you will be responsible for working with our fund administrator, ensuring effective communication. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, a strong understanding of financial principles, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Hands-on knowledge of the private company valuation process and successful experience of managing auditors will be valuable for the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities:Financial Management: Oversee all financial aspects of the venture capital management firm and the General Partner entities, including K1s, distributions of carried interest, budgeting, forecasting, payment approval, accounts receivable, and expense report reconciliations.Fund Administrator and Valuation Firm Oversight: Serve as the primary point of contact for the fund administrator and third party valuation firm to drive resolution on any issues. Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate ad hoc reports, and analyses for management, investors, and regulatory compliance.Cash Flow Management: monitor and manage banking relationships, monitor cash flow and liquidity, ensuring the availability of funds for investments, distributions and operational expenses. Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with management to develop and maintain budgets and financial forecasts, providing regular updates and insights on financial performance.Investor Relations: Support investor relations activities and addressing investor inquiries related to financial matters.Process Improvement: Continuously assess and enhance financial processes, systems, and reporting tools to optimize efficiency and accuracy.Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including investment professionals and legal counsel, to provide financial guidance and support throughout the investment lifecycle.
Requirements:Advanced accounting/financial modeling skills to make accurate calculations, estimates, and forecasts (with a strong attention to detail)Advanced experience working with excel and google sheets. Knowledge of SalesForce is a plus. Familiarity with private equity and/or venture capital organizational structure and operationsFamiliarity with computing and analysis investment returns, particularly TVPI, IRR, and DPIFamiliarity with different valuation methodologies and comfortable building valuation modelsHighly responsible, responsive, communicative and transparentVery high level of energy, highly self-motivated, and a passion for successExcellent ability to listen, understand, connect and build strong relationshipsHighly organized and incredible time and project management, team coordination and strong ability to multitask.Proven ability to thrive under tight deadlines while successfully juggling a multitude of projects simultaneouslyAbility to work independently, self-starter and can run from beginning to end with robust projectsVery strong communication skills, both written and verbal .
