About The Position

The Senior Manager, Preconstruction is responsible for leading our EPC sourcing, contracting, and price negotiation on projects. The Senior Manager’s work generally kicks off approximately 15-18 months prior to FNTP and involves driving the EPC procurement strategy on 1-2 utility scale solar and storage projects across the U.S. The role requires significant cross-functional internal and external coordination. This position will report to the Vice President of Preconstruction.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

Drive the overall Project EPC procurement and sourcing strategy, including closely coordinating with the Procurement (equipment), Development and Financing teams to ensure that the contract timelines are maintained, exhibits are completed as needed to support related contracts, and that risks to the transactional timeline and terms are known and mitigated to the extent feasible. As appropriate, release RFPs for EPC services, serving as the single point of contact for the RFP, leading the development of materials, acting as the interface for bidders, maintaining and releasing addenda and RFI logs, and ultimately receiving and supporting a comprehensive bid review with internal stakeholders prior to selection. Guide internal project team in reviewing and analyzing EPC information, comparing it against internal estimates, anticipated company design and contract terms. After discussing with the Project team, prepare a recommendation for award and, as applicable, scope split between contracts (i.e. separation of PV/HV/BESS EPC scopes to the extent appropriate), and present and advocate the recommendation to the broader executive team for review and approvalLead contract negotiations with EPCs for Limited Notices to Proceed and EPC Contracts and associated Exhibits in a manner that aligns with the Project scope, schedule, price, and expected performance criteria.Manage internal teams and consultants in the development, compilation and negotiation of key Project ExhibitsMaintain and present a coordinated view on project costs, including reporting on updated EPC pricing, facilitating internal analysis and push back as appropriate, and maintaining a risks and opps log that could impact project pricing.Periodically report to executive team on preconstruction progress, developments, risks/challenges, and contract negotiation statusBuild and maintain relationships with external EPCs using transparency, accountability and ethics as shared values in approaching the long-term approach to the procurement.Conduct gap analyses and identifying ways to revise or amend EPC contracts to ensure that the Procurement, PPA, and EPC contracts are consistent. Identify, present and troubleshoot project recommendations for contract execution and contract/pricing status regularly to the Project team and Executive Committees, as needed.Support Project Sales efforts by providing feedback on contract status and rationale for terms along with supporting additional diligence, as requested.Ensure effective coordination, information sharing and hand-off to Project teams, highlighting key project risks, background, and open tasks.Set up lessons learned feedback loops to capture best practices from the other functional groups and incorporate into contracts as appropriate. Support Development and Origination on reasonable feedback on the market for early-stage projects, including likely contractors, overall concerns, etc.Other tasks, as assigned

Travel

Travel to the job sites and offices as necessary to complete job duties. Travel not expected to exceed 25%.

Skills

6+ years of experience in Procurement/EPC/Development/Legal, working for a Renewable Energy Developer or EPC contractor strongly preferredAbility to exercise leadership within a flat organization, listening and learning form others while advocating for what you believe is best.Ability to evaluate priorities and multi-task accordingly while keeping others apprised of status with respect to deadlines.Clear, effective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to identify problems and discrepancies, independently perform research and analysis of causes, and recommend corrective actionsMust be detail and results-oriented with an ability to work in a cross-functional, fast paced, and constantly evolving environment as well as extended hours, as requiredTeam player to work in concert with the development team, finance team and engineering and procurement teams.Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

$120,734—$154,788 USD
