📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
The OpportunityThe Baltimore Regional Housing Partnership (BRHP), which operates the Baltimore Housing Mobility Program, is a 501(c)(3) that assists over 4,000 qualified families in moving from areas of concentrated poverty and obtaining quality and affordable housing in communities with strong schools, low crime, and ample job opportunities in high opportunity areas within Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, and Howard Counties.
BRHP is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant who is aligned with the mission above and experienced in nonprofit and government financial operations, while overseeing specific financial transactions for the organization. The Senior Staff Accountant will report to the Finance Director and the Deputy Finance Director.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of the work for the Senior Staff Accountant. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties, or skills required.• Assist with monthly payment process of approximately $5-$6 million• Prepare Voucher Management System (VMS) financial and unit reporting to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).• Manage recovery of Housing Assistance overpayments. • Manage repayment agreement transactions.• Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and organizational budgets.• Provide staff support to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.• Validate annual 1099 reporting• Manage the processing of Utility assistance payments by developing measures to ensure their accuracy and timeliness. • Work and communicate effectively with other colleagues in the organization and serve as the main contact person for accounts payable• Assist with preparing financial reports in the finance department and ensures reports are done on time and accurately.• Process financial activities related to Accounts Payable to ensure processes are working effectively • Assist with the yearly financial and single audits and tax returns.• Assist with special projects.• Provide support to the Finance Operations Director & Deputy and the Executive Director• Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required• Two to three years’ experience in financial operations of a nonprofit organization that receives federal funds• Advanced knowledge of financial management and internal controls• Adept with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications• Familiarity with Yardi database• Experience processing Accounts Payable• Familiarity with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Voucher Management System (VMS)• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)license
