📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
The Village of Bartlett is seeking a self-motivated individual with a positive work ethic to fill the position of GIS Intern. This role involves dynamic responsibilities, including: - Conducting field data collection using mobile apps and GPS technology. - Updating and maintaining the municipal GIS database. - Compiling and organizing records, data, and information for analysis. - Generating spatial information, maps, and reports to aid decision-making processes. - Ensuring the quality control and accuracy of collected data. - Undertaking various technical duties related to GIS projects.
Our ideal candidate will thrive in both field and office environments, as a significant portion of the role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions. Qualifications for this position include: - Experience in ArcGIS Pro and various ESRI suite of applications.- Possess a valid motor vehicle driver's license- Recent graduate of, or currently pursuing a degree or certificate with a focus on GIS, geography, urban planning, environmental science, computer science, or a related field.- Additional advantage to possess knowledge of Python and other scripting languages to automate tasks and enhance GIS workflows.
This is a temporary position. During the summer, the position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with the possibility of transitioning to part-time hours during the school year. The total duration of the position is budgeted for 882 hours.
We offer a competitive starting wage of $17.00 per hour and flexibility for students to start on May 1st or later, depending on their school schedule.
