ResponsibilitiesThe Pathologists Assistant will work Regular Full-Time, Days 8AM – 4:30PM.Under the general supervision of a pathologist, provides various services in both surgical and autopsy pathology. The primary responsibilities include gross examination and dissection of anatomic pathology specimens and the performance of post mortem examinations. The Pathologists Assistant provides preparation, gross description and dissection of surgical specimens in accordance to established protocols in a timely mannerThe Pathologists Assistant selects and prepares representative tissue sections for histologic and microscopic examination including frozen sections, following established guidelinesThe Pathologists Assistant assists the pathologists in performing the post mortem examination in accordance to established protocols in a timely mannerThe Pathologists Assistant provides technical and administrative support for Bassett sponsored conferences and projects as requested by physiciansThe Pathologists Assistant follows all institution and department policies and proceduresUnderstands the role and responsibilities of individual members as part of the health care team including their ability to promote the delivery of quality healthcareMaintains a clean and orderly work environmentReview work of students and residents as assignedPerforms other duties within their scope of practice

QualificationsEducation/Qualification:High school diploma o equivalent required.Associate's degree or higher in science related field preferred.Experience:2 years Pathologist Assistant training required.Licensure/Certificates:Licensure by NYS SED as a Pathologist Assistant, or licensure-eligible with a limited permit or limited license required.
