Your Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join our payroll team here at Baxter Healthcare. The successful candidate will be responsible for tax filing and registration, quarterly and annual tax balancing, financial payroll review and analysis, and various other finance and compliance-related tasks.
This person will be a guide in Multi State payroll and tax, excellent verbal, and written communications skills; ability to communicate and work successfully with team members across the region with a professional, positive attitude.
What You’ll Be Doing
Responsible for ensuring the third-party vendor has accurate information to process all payrolls, and for ensuring that all payments to employees are accurate and timely.Assist with payroll tax activities, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and filing local, state, and federal payroll tax returns.Coordinate with Tax Filing Shared Services on quarterly and annual tax balancing, including daily funding, quarter end balancing, and year-end closing.Provide financial payroll review and analysis, including weekly distribution of reporting.Assist with financial, Corp tax, and business-related reporting needs, such as Risk Management and weekly ledger feeds.Assist with legal and compliance reporting needs, including subpoena and Workers Comp requests.Coordinate garnishment management, including upload and response to sophisticated items. Assist with employee W2 tax balancing escalation, colloborating with our outsourced payroll processor as needed.Supervise overpayment management, including relationship management with outsourced shared services team and monthly reporting to collection agencies.Serve as point of contact for unemployment claims, working with 3rd Party provider and local HR as needed.Act as liaison with payroll partner ensuring the timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls; act as backup to lead.Year End & Begin tasks including but not limited to: Abandoned Property, Fleet Imputed Income, Charitable Giving, Union CBA Review, etc.Work with the team to develop processes and recommend changes to remain compliant and increase efficiencies.Ensure the resolution of payroll processing issues in a timely manner and provide recommendations to prevent future issues by pro-actively analyzing the root cause.Respond quickly in regards employee questions via the HRSS ticketing system and/or phone.Ensure operations are performed in compliance with company policies, country, state/province, and local laws.Demonstrate a strong customer service attitude, sense of urgency and be organized with strong attention to detail and the importance of accuracy.Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.Creative problem-solving skills, and the capacity complete tasks on timeStrong understanding of software development and testing methodologies.
What You Need
Bachelor’s degree in business, or a related field.3+ years’ experience processing full cycle, multi-state payroll along with prior experience with timekeeping systems (Kronos/ADP eTime)Possess a broad knowledge of payroll and timekeeping, and general HR related topics to respond to team member inquiries; demonstrate initiative in seeking answers to new inquiriesKnowledge and understanding of payroll laws, payroll tax, and wage garnishments.Validated experience handing critical and confidential information.Strong background in WorkDay and UKG Workforce Central (WFC) systemsUnderstanding of HR operating environments and exposure to applicable State specific legal processing requirements a plus

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $64,000.00 to $88,000.00 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
