Job Description Summary

This position reports to the Department Manager.

The main responsibilities are

Oversee of the compliance with safety regulations by performing on-site evaluations. Will work with the safety supervisor to develop visual aids for proper safety PPE around the plant. Will help to develop our dry plant safety plan. Will work with safety supervisor on accident investigations (tree analysis) to prevent other accidents from occurring, Evaluate the safety process for the various tasks.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Will assist with all aspects of process start-up, cheese make, waxing and packaging. Will learn to coordinate production operation, employee skill utilization, and material and workflow to insure efficient and timely production of the semi-finished cheeses from the cheese making operations through waxing. Will assist in development and implement Work Instructions for the process Will assist in commissioning trials Ensure documents are being filled out properly Participate in regular supervisor meetings and shift meetings Work with operators to understand task procedures for the development of the Work Instructions Will Evaluate cleaning procedures Ensure safety practices are being implemented Assist Process Manager and Production Supervisors with record keeping Promote a fun and enjoyable work environment Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices as stated within the policy Follows all Safety rules & procedures by working safely and ensuring safety of others Follows all food safety procedures Follows all environmental protocols as applicable Follows all sanitation procedures and work instructions Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Minimum degree and experience

Undergraduate student or Graduate student in Dairy Science or Food Science disciplines Enthusiastic attitude; committed to providing quality results and eager to learn all aspects of the production process

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in wet, humid conditions, and in proximity to cleaning chemicals, fumes, and air-born particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to cleaning chemicals, and sources of vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Protective Equipment: Employees must wear personal protective equipment as required which could include a hair and beard net, rubber boots, and ear protection.
