📋 Role Overview & Responsibilities
BELIEVE - Stroke Recovery Foundation was founded by Stroke Survivor, Michael, and his wife, Jennifer, who wanted to turn a tragedy into hope for other survivors after living and learning the obstacles of stroke recovery.
Typical insurance plans may cover two months’ worth of rehabilitation in one calendar year - not nearly enough therapy to get back on the road to recovery. Many stroke and brain injury survivors need to continue physical, occupational, and/or speech language pathology for many more months - even years.
Our Goal Our goal is to provide support to stroke and brain injury survivors with inadequate health insurance coverage so that they can benefit from rehabilitation therapy, equipment, and continued care to aid in an optimal recovery.
We host an annual fundraiser in Raleigh, NC and seek opportunities within NC communities to partner with like minded organizations, rehabilitation facilities, and people to support stroke and brain injury survivors not only financially but emotionally to promote independence and social activities.
BELIEVE - Stroke Recovery Foundation is a North Carolina based 501 c (3) nonprofit seeking individuals with a passion for serving others that will actively advocate for stroke and brain injury survivors. The ideal candidates will be fully engaged in identifying and securing financial resources, opportunities, and partnerships necessary for BELIEVE - SRF to advance our mission. Board members play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of our organization to ensure financial sustainability to support stroke and brain injury survivors. This is a volunteer position with a meaningful impact.
Responsibilities
Attend Board Meetings Regularly participate in board meetings (typically held monthly or quarterly) to discuss organizational matters, review finances, our mission, and make informed decisions.Advocate and Fundraise Actively advocate for our cause, engage with potential donors, and contribute and/or lead fundraising efforts.Governance and Compliance Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards and uphold the organization's bylaws.Strategic Planning Collaborate with fellow board members to develop and implement strategic plans that align with our mission and vision.Committee Participation Recruit and lead volunteers to participate on committees related to fundraising efforts and program development.
