The Position

The Environmental Monitoring Technician performs environmental monitoring (EM) of the aseptic area, which includes collecting viable air, total particle, surface, personnel, and water samples in support of facility environmental monitoring procedures, and in accordance with cGMP, NNPILP, and corporate policies. The role involves working in accordance with the Novo Nordisk Way and participating in initiatives to drive process improvements within the EM department.

Essential Functions

Maintain classified production areas by performing routine and non-routine environmental monitoringCollect EM and water samplesPerforms & documents all work in accordance with GMP, site & corporate procedures & policiesUtilize PEMS system to create labels, collect & submit EM samplesUtilize gLIMS system to create labels, collect & submit utility samplesMaintains a safe working environment & ensures compliance with all safety & environmental procedures & regulationsFollow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of dutiesOther accountabilities, as assigned

Physical Requirements

Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Strap & unstrap pallets using hands. Must be able to be on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. May perform critical job functions in extremely cold work environments depending on site. May position oneself within confined spaces for inspection if required of the role. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. May be required to secure a motorized vehicle license & operate a motorized vehicle based on the role.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate degree from an accredited university preferredBioWorks certificate preferredMinimum of one (1) year of experience in a manufacturing industry required, preferably in a FDA regulated environmentAbility to read, write & understand complicated product documentation & standard operating procedures with attention to detail a plusStrong communication skills & computer skills (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, PEMS, gLIMS) a plus
