As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) on our Platform team, you'll be joining a (small) group of industry veterans who are passionate about maintaining the continuous availability of our customer Platform. The Platform SRE's role is to troubleshoot, monitor, integrate, configure, and administer Platform applications. The person in this role participates in the planning and documentation of policies and procedures to ensure system implementation, design, and maintenance is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
While the locations listed in the job posting are ideal, we would love candidates near either our Herndon, VA or Seattle, WA offices. We may also consider remote candidates in certain states.
Responsibilities
Monitor and Maintain Platform Systems:Design/implement/integrate additional monitoring tools to ensure continuity of the Platform.Perform incident management and response procedures to ensure all incidents are addressed appropriately.Configure Platform systems utilizing compliance best practices.Create and maintain documentation for applications, processes, and procedures.Conduct audits on existing systems by running reports and providing analysis.Participate in on-call rotation to respond to critical events.Other job-related duties as assigned.
Technical Support and Administration:Manage end user accounts, permissions, and access.Anticipate, identify, troubleshoot and mitigate/resolve issues as they arise.Integrate and automate platform systems to increase value and adoption.Transmit data between platform systems with automated tooling.Advise business on new and existing platform systems.
Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.A minimum of three years of experience in engineering operations for commercial software in a production environment; familiarity with agile methodologies, software product and release life cycles, source code and change management.Experience with scalable cloud-based systems running in Amazon Web Services (AWS).Experience working with databases (ie. MongoDB, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch).Python experience.Passion to solve complex problems.
Preferred Qualifications:Java/JavaScript experience.Experience working with geospatial products.

The anticipated salary range for candidates in Seattle, WA is $115,000 - $130,000 per year. The final compensation package offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on specific background and education. BlackSky is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect salary ranges in other states or locations outside of Seattle, WA.
