The Boeing Company is seeking a Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer to support multi-program test activities in Saint Charles, MO.

The ideal candidate will need to have leadership, team building, analytical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with a commitment to customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for leading teams to develop and operate flight instrumentation electro/mechanical design solutions of varying complexity in support of flight test. Also, you will perform functions as required to ensure flight instrumentation system readiness and data validity.

This position may require travel (short term or long-term DTA- Domestic Temporary Assignment) in support of testing to alternate test sites.

The candidate must be comfortable at coordinating with people from various technical disciplines, test sites, and vendors. Experience in aircraft instrumentation systems, on-aircraft ground tests, and flight test operations is desired.

This position is for 1st shift; however, variable shifts including, day, evening, nights and weekends may be required to support program objectives.

Position Responsibilities

Lead others in the design test hardware, software and systems to achieve test requirementsIdentify required products, systems, components, materials, and manufacturing processes / technologiesGenerate electrical schematics using design (e.g. AutoCAD, UG) and simulation tools (e.g. PSPICE)Author instrumentation system performance specifications and subsystem interface documentationDevelop instrumentation architectural block diagramsCoordinate system fabrication, integration, modification, setup, checkout and teardownIdentify test requirements and determines test methodsObtain flight clearances from the customer for installed configurationsTroubleshoot and resolve instrumentation system, transducer, and test-related problemsAnalyze, review, and validate test data to ensure flight test instrumentation hardware and software readinessConduct research in test technologies to improve efficiency and capabilityInterface with project / program team members, management, and technical staff to define and implement test engineering solutionsTrain and coaches othersWork under consultative directionUse Earned Value Management to define, track, and communicate progress on work packagesAbility to travel and support flight testing on an as needed basis

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer scienceThis position has responsibility to build and monitor color coded safety analysis displays to support real time test missions. Candidates are required to be able to accurately differentiate between Red/Orange/Yellow/Green/Blue etc colors for safety of flight and safety of test displays during real time flight test missions1+ years of experience in lab test, flight test, or similar test environment1+ years of experience in an engineering role

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

Typical Education/Experience

Associate (Level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Mid-Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range associate level: $79,900 – $108,100

Summary pay range mid-level: $95,200 – $128,800

Summary pay range senior level: $113,900 – $154,100
