The Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) Mission Systems & Autonomy (MS&A) software organization is seeking a Space and Satellite Software Manager in Huntington Beach, California.

The selected candidate will lead a very talented software team developing software engineering solutions and engineered systems and perform research and development (R&D) in the area of satellite platforms, payloads, and ground systems that are capable of surviving and continuing to function in the face of extreme temperatures radiation, and other environmental challenges.

Position Responsibilities

Leads a team performing software engineering and technical activities in the area of satellite platforms, payloads, ground systems, firmware, and algorithmDevelops and executes project and process plans across multiple program functionsImplementing software processes and Ensuring program documentation accurately reflects software engineering processesResponsible for software technical baseline, Build Plan and software program artifacts are current and completeResponsible Cost Account Manager (CAM), accountable for budget, schedule and risk associated with each of the control accounts and for supporting the program EVM processesCoordinate activities across ground software, flight software, firmware, and algorithmRunning Scrum of Scrums, work with development teams to implement agile and run team scrumsPartner with Payload project leads on project execution and software staffing needsDevelops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, program partners, and direct reportsProvides leadership focused on the development of individuals' skills and abilities so that they can fulfill current or future job/role responsibilitiesDevelops and maintains relationships and partnerships with peers, business partners, customers, and other stakeholders, including supplier engagement and managementAcquires resources for projects and processes and provides oversight and approval of technical approaches in alignment with organizational strategyDemonstrate a commitment to the mission and motivation to combine the team’s energy and expertise to achieve a common objectiveUnderstands the dynamics of effective teamwork in order to attain higher levels of performanceDemonstrates the ability to work as a member of a team

This position is 100% onsite. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science2+ years of experience with systems engineering or software development on space-based or ground-based systems2+ years of experience performing in a leadership role2+ years of experience with agile software development1+ years’ experience managing budgets/resources, including Control/Cost Account Management (CAM)1+ years’ experience as a manager for a team of Software Engineers

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

Ability to obtain a top-secret clearanceExperience working as part of a modern software development environment and/or CI/CD pipelineExperience with real-time embedded multiprocessor programs and/or user interface development programsExperience working with systems engineers and integrating large-scale software systemsExperience with ground and payloads software developmentExperience in system-level hardware/software design3+ years of experience in RTOS or embedded Linux development

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: 141,950 – 192,050
