PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Social Recreation Coordinator is responsible for all recreational activities and programs, management of the Clubhouse’s Food Program, and responsible for providing safe passage for youth by driving and doing safe walks from their schools. They shall plan, organize, direct and control the program and maintenance of all recreational areas, such as the Games Room, as per the policies of the organization. They will also be responsible for adhering to the organizations policies and partnerships around management of the Clubhouse’s Food Program. They shall also operate the Club’s passenger van and support on safe walks to support the safe passage of youth to the after school program.

This will be a part-time role supporting our Excelsior Clubhouse.

KEY ROLES (ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES):

Recreation Leadership – 60%

Plan and conduct educational and recreational programs in a Clubhouse, subject to the approval of the Assistant Clubhouse or Clubhouse Director.Facilitation of on the spot games and drop in activities Develop recreational programs that are stimulating and age appropriate for all members in supplementation to the BGCA curriculum.Provide an environment that promotes creativity and exploration through learning.Safeguard the confidentiality and safety of all members.Promote and stimulate membership in the department ensuring that every Club member participates in structured programming around Recreational activities.Understand and communicate to youth the importance of doing well in school and having a plan for going to college, vocational school, or entering the workforce at age 18.Support site in taking program attendance daily for programs and supporting the Administrative Assistant with any smaller tasks or projects as needed..Work with volunteers and student interns to help facilitate and participate in activities that are run by the Social Recreation Coordinator.

Food Program Lead – 25%

Attend all necessary trainings and workshops related to the Food ProgramManage and report in a timely manner all data and paperwork for the Food Program.Oversee and facilitate the proper storage, preparation, and serving of food for the Food Program. Train fellow team members, as necessary, around the Food Program.Ensure that the Food Program meets all requirements for full operation at the Clubhouse.Manage partner relationships who are in charge of auditing the Food Program.

Transportation – 15%

Transport Club members in Club vehicles, public transportation, and safe walks.Responsible for fueling vehicles and use of company credit cards.Performing appropriate vehicle checks to ensure passenger safety.Adherence to all driving codes and regulations.General vehicle cleanliness and maintenance.Provide appropriate supervision of members as needed.Comfortable driving a large passenger van (10+) but no more than 9 members at a time.

Required Skills

Experience working with youth ages 6-18 years old in a youth development setting.The ability to create strong relationships with youth in a short period of time.Ability to manage youth behaviors and maintain high expectations.An interest in a variety of youth programs including technology, art, sports, and recreation.Strong positive disciplinary skills with youth.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated research and organization skills.Ability to use PC computer software such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Salesforce.Ability to work in a high-paced environment with continual distractions.Self-Starter.Flexibility.Strong ability to create and follow systems and procedures.Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification (or within 90 days of employment).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to lift 25 lbs.Must be able to stand for at least 2 hourMust be able to sit at computer workstation for long time periods

Pay

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and BGCSF needs. At BGCSF, our decisions are based on other factors and dependent on circumstances for each position. Depending on the need and requirement of the position, an individual could be hired at or near the entry-level, mid-level or top-of-the-range for their role and compensation. As such, a reasonable estimate of the current range is starting at $21.00 to $23.00.
