Senior Accountant – Government Contractor/Logistics - Virginia Beach – Pay to $80K + Bonus

A dynamic and growing government contractor in Virginia Beach is seeking a SENIOR ACCOUNTANT to join its corporate accounting team.

The senior accountant will focus on general ledger through month-end close, take charge of complex general ledger reconciliations, assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable, and participate in financial reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities:Month-end close including general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting documentsTake charge of complex general ledger reconciliations including all month-end balance sheet recsMonitors customer profitability report weekly to ensure proper timing of revenue recognition and expenditure matchingAssist with financial statement preparationAssist with accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensure accurate coding and billing by contract, and post cash receiptsProvide analysis of financial results, key general ledger accounts, and financial statementsAssist with ad hoc financial reports, audits preparation, and tax filings

Qualifications and Education Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in accounting with Master’s degree and/or CPA a plus5+ years of complex general ledger accounting experience including journal entries and reconciliations for month-end closeExperience in the government contracting and/or logistics industry, and with service-based contracts preferredRobust systems knowledge including advanced Excel and experience with ERPs and financial reporting tools, experience with NetSuite a plusDynamic self-starter with excellent collaboration and communication skills at all levelsStrong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and analytical abilityAbility to maintain a high level of confidentiality, work independently, prioritize to meet multiple deadlines, and produce high quality work product
