Position Summary

The Lead Accountant – External Reporting reports to the Sr. Manager, External Reporting, under the Assistant Corporate Controller and the Chief Accounting Officer.

The position will be responsible for partnering with the organization to ensure the financial reporting initiatives are properly executed and in compliance with IFRS. The position will focus primarily on preparing and consolidating financial data and reporting externally to BSAM’s parent company Bridgestone Global. This position will have regular involvement with BSAM’s external auditor and will support the Sr. Manager External Reporting as the go-to contacts within Finance for all things audit related, including heavy involvement in the quarterly review process, the annual financial statement audit, the BSAM standalone audit, and participation in quarterly Audit Committee meetings as needed. This position will also be responsible for supporting the Assistant Corporate Controller with accounting research and various other projects as needed, as well as well as supporting the technical accounting team on M&A transactions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting and auditing background as well as possess excellent organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Integral part of the External Reporting teamHeavy involvement in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end consolidation process to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results in accordance with IFRS. This includes understanding various areas of the monthly SAP closing routine, aiding in the consolidation and review of financial submissions, understanding the intercompany elimination process, and reviewing financial statement submissions to JapanConduct accounting research, analysis, interpretation, and assist in developing policy for newly applicable IFRS accounting guidance; ensure timely identification and documentation of key issues and brief leadership on major financial issues brought forth from these analyses

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or FinanceMinimum of 3-5 years of broad-based based accounting/finance experienceCPA License or certification in process requiredPossess an understanding of U.S. GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)Thorough understanding of financial statement preparation and reportingAudit experience in a public accounting firm preferred
