Production Quality Control Intern

Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Production Quality Control Intern will have responsibility to follow established metrology procedures to calibrate and verify accuracy of Hysitron’s product line of nanomechanical testing devices. Perform a variety of electronic, mechanical and electromechanical tests on new systems, subassemblies and components to ensure quality according to specifications or to determine cause of failure. Compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability. Use principles of science, engineering and mathematics to solve practical testing and quality control problems. Work with Production, Engineering, Customer Service and R&D to review testing procedures, evaluate test results, resolve problems and otherwise meet all assigned objectives. This position will have occasional responsibility to complete various aspects of instrument final assembly and to generally assist with other aspects of production and quality control.

Support quality control processes including probe testing/analysis, component testing, instrument final checkout and reporting of any issues 50%Perform troubleshooting of equipment or instruments to determine or resolve the problem and provide recommended plan of action when appropriate 20%Calibrate and verify accuracy of Hysitron’s product line of nanomechanical testing devices 10%

Additional Responsibilities (Non-essential Job Functions)

Work with the NRL and Sales to support application testing 10%Support Production, Engineering and Sales on new product release activity 10%

This is a temporary position lasting approximately three months.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude General PC skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office Demonstrated ability to work in team environment Self-motivated with good time management skills Effective written and oral communication skills Ability to manipulate small parts with tweezers under magnification

Educational/Experience Requirements

Preferably a college sophomore level (minimum), currently enrolled in an accredited technical school or university with a major in electronics or engineering
