Senior Payroll Tax Analyst - Hybrid schedule offered!
The Senior Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for ensuring the ongoing payroll tax and compliance for the company. This role will work with a cross-functional team that includes Payroll, HR, Finance/Accounting and third-party vendors to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and the overall success of the payroll operations.
Senior Payroll Analyst Duties
Research and interpret federal and state regulatory requirements.Resolve tax, withholding, garnishment, and wage/hour issues for payroll processing.Ensure accurate setup and system maintenance of SUI rates, including registration of new accounts and verification of SUI rates by work location.Audit payroll registers, quarterly tax filings/reports, and W-2s, ensuring taxable benefits are accounted for properly.Verify state and local taxes are being withheld correctly.Support regulatory payroll audit requests as required.This position will serve as Subject Matter Expert and escalation point for complex payroll and tax issues.Download all periodic payroll files, including Quarterly/Annual SODs for tax filing.Prepare and provide payroll-related reports as requested.Analyze, audit, reconcile, and resolve complex payroll, tax, and employee issues.Complete various reports, such as Multiple Worksite and Bureau of Labor Statistics reports.Perform detailed reconciliation from prior to current payroll.Responsible for the payroll system maintenance as needed.Assist in ensuring that employee payroll records, payroll systems, and databases are up-to-date and accurate.Ensure payroll reporting and payments are compliant with company policy, generally accepted accounting principles, and federal, state, and IRS regulations.Protect confidential information by not communicating, disclosing to, or using it for the benefit of third parties.
Senior Payroll Analyst Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.At least 6 years of payroll tax experience in multi-state withholding and multi-state unemployment tax filing, preferably in a large corporate setting.In-depth knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulationsExpert Analytical Skills and strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, v-lookups, etc.)Proficient in payroll processing softwareStrong communication and interpersonal skillsFPC or CPP certification preferred.
