About The Team

We are the dev infra engineering team behind all applications in ByteDance. The client include mobile frontend and some desktop. We proudly serve billions of users across the world and thousands of engineers in ByteDance by building and supporting large-scale services, frameworks, tools and systems.

We're looking for software engineers who will join a team to work on client infrastructure/tools and help us improve the performance, stability, and R&D efficiency of mobile applications owned by ByteDance. You will have the opportunity to change the experience of billions of users worldwide and improve the R&D efficiency of thousands ByteDancers. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to join the in-depth technical explorations of Perf&Crash, Build Tools, Developer Experience, and cross-platform technology, and even propose new directions and projects that continually improve our mobile system architecture.

As a full stack software engineer Intern in the team, you will

Build infrastructure websites for engineers, such as build deployment systems, metrics monitoring systems, logging systems, etc. Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable frontend and backend code. Create and maintain server-side application logic, integrate the front-end elements with the server-side. Construct databases, tables, and schemas. Implement CRUD operations, write complex SQL or NoSQL queries, consider indexing, transactions for data integrity and performance. Design and implement efficient testing solutions for both frontend and backend code. This involves unit tests, integration tests, and UI tests. Work alongside other developers, product management, UX/UI designers, discussing and designing the project features.

This Internship Program runs for 10-24 weeks. Candidates can also apply for both Off-cycle Intern position and Program Intern position.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.Experience in developing end-to-end features for both frontend and backend. Experience in both frontend and backend technologies is a must. This includes familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, at least one modern JavaScript framework (such as React, Angular, Vue.js), as well as backend technologies like Node.js, Django or Flask. Understanding of APIs and web services. Have knowledge of RESTful/RPC APIs. Familiar with various databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB or similar. Understanding of performing CRUD operations, writing complex queries and database optimization. Good problem solving skills and thinking patterns in system design.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduating December 2024 onwards with intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship. Demonstrated software engineering experience from previous internship, work experience, coding competitions, or publications. High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (hourly)

The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $45- $45. We cover 100% premium coverage for Full-Time intern medical insurance after 90 days from the date of hire. Medical coverage only, no dental or vision coverage.

Our time off and leave plans are: Paid holidays and paid sick leave. The sick leave entitlement is based on the time you join.
