At Ops West Photonics, A CACI company, we specialize in the design, development, and manufacturing of complex, state-of-the-art sensors and communication systems for military, space, and commercial applications. Our products include optical and RF communication systems as well as sophisticated image processing & visualization systems.
We are currently looking for an experienced FPGA developer to take ownership of firmware architecture and development for future space systems.
Responsibilities Include
Close collaboration with the System Architecture team on firmware requirements and architectureOwnership of the detailed firmware architecture, development timeline and delegation of tasks within the teamSelection and integration of complex licensed IP cores in Ultrascale+ class FPGAsParticipation in hardware component selection decisions and design reviewsDevelopment and testing of communication systems incorporating digital, analog, fiber optic and free space optic components, electro-optic modulators, lasers and photo-detectorsDebugging designs in the laboratory utilizing basic laboratory tools and advanced tools (Spectrum Analyzer, protocol analyzer, etc.) as needed
The Successful Candidate Will Have The Following Qualifications/experience
BSEE or MSEE in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering7+ years of work experience leading complex firmware developments from concept through system test and releaseExpertise developing firmware for complex mixed signal environments (equal parts analog and high speed digital)Experience implementing modem fundamental components (coding schemes, CDRs, high speed serial links, clock domain management)Development with System Verilog, git-based source control and automated build and test environmentsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsSelf-motivated and self-directed, requiring little supervision
The following qualifications and experience are highly desired but not required:
Design background in telecommunication systemsExperience developing for space environments (SEU mitigation, TMR, ECC, etc)Experience with Python/TCL scripting for automation and test developmentExperience working in Agile development environmentsExperience with free space and/or fiber optics
