Deputy Secretary for Equity & Workforce

Under the direction of the Agency Secretary and Undersecretary, the Deputy Secretary for Equity and Workforce will coordinate equity work within the Agency and departments through development and coordination of workforce development strategies in the transportation sector in partnership with state & local agencies and external stakeholders.

The Deputy Secretary will lead the Agency’s efforts to embed equity analysis and considerations in the Agency’s mission, policies and practices. The incumbent will serve as a liaison with partner agencies to ensure that transportation policies, programs and multimodal planning efforts are developed with a diversity, inclusion and equity lens and a careful assessment of the impact they will have on California communities. Furthermore, they will work strategically to identify and build upon existing efforts to promote a diverse workforce within the Agency and its departments, and will develop and coordinate workforce development strategies to ensure diversity within the transportation and contractor and construction communities.

This role is instrumental in delivering the Agency's Core Four priorities of Equity, Safety, Climate Action and Economic Prosperity to all people in our state.
