What Nuclear Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal HealthPharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers.Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines; may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy. Licensed.Job SummaryThe primary purpose of the Tech II, Nuclear Pharmacy is to assist the pharmacist in pharmacy operations and customer interactions, including answering questions and relaying information to physicians and pharmacists. The Tech II, Nuclear Pharmacy participates in all aspects of facility and equipment preparation, including inventory management and performing and recording all tasks as mandated by law. As part of operating in a nuclear pharmacy, this job assists in compounding of drugs in line with manufacturer specifications, performing quality checks, and participating in the dispensing process. In addition, this job assists in order preparation, entry and fulfillment as well as completing ad hoc tasks, as required.Click here to watch a short video about what a Nuclear Pharmacy Technician does at Cardinal HealthSchedule40 Hours per week.The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 1:00a to 9:00a.End time negotiable if a candidate prefers fewer hours or needs to leave before 9:00am on some or all days.Sign on Bonus$1,500 New Hire Sign on bonus offered!Responsibilities Under the immediate direction of a qualified licensed Staff Pharmacist, your duties include:Prepares prescriptions by typing labels and obtain Staff Pharmacist approvalCompounds medications according to applicable state laws and obtain Pharmacist endorsement.Draws doses into either a syringe or vialPerforms quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal, State, Company and manufacturer's guidelinesReceives, documents, and stores incoming and outgoing pharmaceuticals according to the Department of Transportation and Company guidelinesMaintains computer inventory and records to ensure proper utilization of materials and accounting for all radioactive materials and Rx drugsAssists and/or performs in the labeling of blood cell productsElutes generatorReceives standard diagnostic prescription orders from Cardinal Health customers, with the exception of those orders prohibited by regulation or Cardinal Health policyPerforms radiation safety tasks including well checks & efficiencies, air monitoring, fume hood flow checks, room wipes & surveys, waste management, vehicle surveys, and meter checksMay provide radiation safety training to facility staff membersPerforms general laboratory and facility clean upMay perform clerical and administrative services including maintenance of daily records, preparation of receipts, report preparation, and maintenance of billing recordsMakes deliveries to accounts with company vehicles as neededSpeaks with customers and address questions and/or concerns via telephone Works under close supervision. All work is reviewed for accuracy.
