Job Summary: Plans, directs and supervises the activities of the Career Transition Phase of the CDSS program. Primary responsibility is to ensure students exit the program with a quality job, enter college, attend advanced training, or enlist in Military service. Quality job placement is evaluated based on a Full Time (FT) job, Job Training Match (JTM), at or above Wage goal. Long term attachment to placement and wage is another quality factor.

Duties/Responsibilities:Must create and sustain positive working relationships with co-workers.This is a supervisory management position.Employee supervises the Career Transition staff, work closely with Career Technical Training, Career Transition Readiness, and Work-Based Learning staff,Assists students in adjusting to Center life to enhance student retention by providing supervision, behavior modification, counseling, and by acting as a positive role model and mentor. Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, or emotional trauma.Conducts formal performance evaluations for staff under supervision in timely manner and provides regular and ongoing performance feedback.May be assigned to supervise an activity, a special event (either on or off center), or in other program areas as assigned on a temporary, periodic, or regular basis.Conducts weekly performance and department staff meeting and at least monthly conducts monitoring visits for staff stationed at remote sites.Ensures that Career Transition Services area has adequate supplies and equipment and remains within budget. Coordinates job development and relocation activities, promotes linkages and creates job leads and Job Placements for students. Evaluates and seeks trends in relation to Labor Market Information and provides feedback to CTT instructors and Center Management.Coordinates Job Fairs, Career Days and Military Days. May attend WIA Local Board meetings. Visits agencies, businesses and other job-related partners. Provides informational presentations to external partners, schools, colleges, and business to promote student placements.Establishes individual placement goals for CTS monthly and annually, requests approved incentives for staff who achieve or surpass goals; provides training and technical assistance and holds CTS staff accountable who do not achieve goals.Attends seminars and conferences to keep abreast of changes and trends, as well as required staff training.Trains and cross-trains staff. Keeps staff informed of program issues and policy changes, etc.Promotes activities geared towards employability and Career Transition readiness.

Requirements

Minimum: Associates degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field. Three years' work-related experience, one of which involved direct managerial/supervisory responsibilities.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field, and two years related supervisory experience or Associate's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field, and four years related supervisory experience.

Knowledge: Must be able to effectively relate to culturally diverse and disadvantaged youth. Excellent communication skill, both oral and written. Excellent organizational skills. Good analytical skills. Sound management techniques. Ability to handle multiple priorities. Must obtain and maintain valid CPR/FA certificate.
