IT Infrastructure Engineering Manager

At Casey's, the IT Infrastructure Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing various aspects of Casey’s on-premise and cloud platform infrastructure. This role requires profound technical expertise, as well as strategic management capabilities to lead the design, installation, and management of enterprise infrastructure solutions and related components. Additionally, this role will involve providing high-level input on system architecture and design changes, and analyzing and resolving system hardware, software, and networking issues.

Responsibilities

Responsible for hiring, training, salary administration, performance management and corrective actions for direct reports. Collaborates with team members on career development and goal setting.Manage technology ownership including activities such as forecasting, budgeting, contract negotiations, licensing, and vendor management.Establish and grow relationships with cross functional peers and business partners to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation that drive positive business outcomes.Lead a team of engineers with a focus on architecting and implementing on-premise and cloud infrastructures solutions which support agile methodologies and product development in support of business objectives.Work closely with software engineering and product teams to instill a culture of quality and iterative innovation across all engineering disciplines and increase the quality, confidence, and reliability of all infrastructure and services.Utilize strong leadership skills to push the cloud platform vision forward with high levels of adoption, working with various engineering leaders to quantify problems and deliver value-producing results.Evaluate new technology solutions and partnerships to accelerate the engineering and product organization.Create and optimize technology and processes in partnership with other technology teams, compliance, and information security to ensure systems are designed and operated with security in mind.Understand and apply fundamentals of the business to ensure the technical roadmap aligns with business opportunities.On-call availability outside of business hours providing technology leadership for major technology incidents or production outages, serving as a point of contact for on-call staff and communicating impact and urgency to senior leadership.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline or work-related equivalent experience required.A minimum of Seven (7) years of progressive experience leading and managing a team within a team building custom technical solutions and implementing 3rd-party products.Strong knowledge of IT best practices and agile development methodologies is required.Experience mentoring, motivating, and leading a team through successful infrastructure on-premise and cloud projects.Experience setting business expectations and scope as well as providing technology recommendations.Experience guiding projects and initiatives of increasing scope and complexity.Experience with automation/configuration management.Excellent problem solving, issue identification, and technical documentation skills.Ability to communicate with cross-functional teams about engineering topics such as system architecture, API design, product roadmaps, and resourcing.Ability to identify team and functional area challenges, gaps, and opportunities for improvement, then proposing solutions, getting buy in, and executing on change initiatives.You have a passion for mentorship, guidance, and direct person-to-person interactions that create strong bonds among teams and individuals.Ability to adapt communications to different situations and target the message for both technical and non-technical audiences.Motivated self-starter, with a successful track record of leading change and being resilient through challenges.

This role does not allow for 100% remote work. Qualified candidates will need to live within a daily commutable distance of Casey's Store Support Center in Ankeny IA and be willing to work in a hybrid work environment consisting of 3 days per week onsite.
