ASSISTANT REHAB

Job Description

The Rehab Assistant is responsible for certain office duties as it pertains to assigned department. These duties may include: registering patients, scheduling appointments, entering charges, collecting payments, verifying insurance, answering phones and directing calls, and contacting patients regarding appointments. Patient care duties will include assisting therapists with treatment programs under the direct supervision of a licensed therapist set-up of patient rooms cleaning of equipment before/after patient use routine ordering of therapy supplies equipment and other necessary items. Other office or patient care duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by the Manager or therapy staff.

Responsibilities

Assists in developing enhancing and/or teaching competencies in practice area.

Assists the therapist in clinically advancing patients with a variety of diagnoses to reach their optimal function.

Challenges current practice models and recommends improvements.

Completes : implements process improvement activity; completes special project with manager pre-approval; implements a strategy to improve workflow.

Completes : serves on an approved committee; performs activity as pre-approved by the manager; meets intradepartmental scheduling needs by floating to VBH/LGH acute care; demonstrates the ability to use conflict resolution principles.

Completes : participates in a community service or Centra related customer service activity; participates in an activity to improve customer service; attends a customer service class or performs an additional in-service to internal customers (any topic); performs other customer service activity as pre-approved by the manager.

Mentors new employees as the opportunity arises.

Perceives patients reaction to treatment and responds accordingly.

Performs administrative duties including phones faxing filing copying payroll patient scheduling ordering office supplies statistical reporting monitoring charges typing evaluations insurance pre-certs re-certs.

Progresses patients as indicated per patient status under the supervision of licensed staff.

Provides appropriate patient care under the supervision of professional staff

Secures two forms of patient identification before transporting or treating the patient.

Qualifications

Required Education: High School Diploma / GED

Required Experience: On the job training. Proficient with Word and Excel. Knowledge of customer service principles and techniques, including demonstrated ability to interact with all patients and patient family members in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner. Skill in computer use.
