PVD Prep is a 5th through 8th grade college preparatory, tuition-free public charter school for Providence, Rhode Island. The mission of our school is to prepare a diverse group of Providence middle school students for college preparatory high schools. Our commitments are as follows:

This is where you come in. PVD Prep seeks a passionate and highly skilled Assistant Head of School for Teaching & Learning who is willing and able to move mountains for the PVD Prep raptors. To be excellent in this role, you will:

• Have a heart that is in the classroom coaching teachers, not behind a desk filling out paperwork- Maintain have deep experience and expertise serving students who may be differently abled, learning the English language, or not yet ready for rigorous, grade level content- Be a confident, experienced leader with a proven track record of leading others to achieving results in the classroom- Love the middle school years!Your specific duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:- Serving alongside the Head of School as the primary instructional coach to teaching staff, providing an array of actionable feedback to promote growth- Serve as a direct supervisor teachers and instructional staff- Maintain high-quality, rigorous, standards-based curricula in all core subjects- Establish a shared vision of excellent teaching, rigorous instruction and student success; promote a climate of professional collegiality and respect- Build and support a data-driven culture of inquiry amongst adults that constantly and closely monitor student progress- Ensure the regular review / improvement of the taught / written curriculum; select appropriate assessment tools and support their effective use- Coordinate and deliver staff development and training- Communicate regularly with stakeholders on PVD Prep’s academic performance- Partner with the Assistant Head of School for Student Affairs to set and maintain a positive, academic focused school culture.- Engage parents and the community to support the success of PVD Prep students

Additional qualifications

• Full Rhode Island certification as a Building Administrator; eligibility to receive expert residency or emergency certification; and/or proof of enrollment in a program leading to licensure- Previous experience as an instructional coach or comparable school leader position with coaching responsibility (principal, assistant principal or teacher leader role)- Master’s Degree preferred; Bachelor’s Degree required- Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply- Exceptionally strong organizational and problem-solving skills=- Ability to demonstrate competency in other content areas beyond certification content, particularly in Literacy.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $105,000. PVD Prep offers a competitive salary as well as a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and retirement benefits.
