Shift: This is a full time, hourly position working Monday – Friday typically during standard business hours - however there may occasionally be coverage needs outside of those hours.

Summary

The Simulation Operations Specialist primary responsibility is to collaborate with Healthcare Simulation Educators to provide technical and coordination support for the Simulation Program, simulation-based training initiatives, and professional development projects focused on patient safety, quality, and performance improvement. The Simulation Operations Specialist role in the delivery of healthcare simulation is to provide technical expertise for setup, maintenance, and operations of computer systems, simulators and clinical equipment/supplies, audio-visual systems, high-fidelity/low-fidelity manikins, procedural task trainers, and immersive learning modalities/environments.

Responsibilities

Ensures the use of Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice™Creates an effective and psychologically safe learning environment in the training environment.Implements a variety of simulation modalities based on learning objectives and participant needs.Serve as resource to staff in the use of simulation equipment, as well as assisting in all aspects of moulage and the creation of a hospital or prehospital environment.Analyze and organize equipment needs for complex simulation scenarios. Independently manage all aspects of the scenario production. Responsible for set-up and tear down of equipment and supplies for simulation activities.Instruct users and supervise the use of equipment and technology. Enforce policies and procedures on the proper use of simulation equipment/technology. Troubleshoot equipment/technology using independent decision-making skills. Assess and resolve equipment malfunctions independently, contacting vendors when necessary.Assist in the management of equipment purchases, maintenance, repair, and cleaning. Interface with vendors to analyze equipment acquisitions. Maintain inventory control of all medical supplies and disposables. Ensure the proper supplies and amounts are ordered and ready for scheduled programs.Serves as the central point of contact for all technology needs in the Simulation Lab and will coordinate with other IT support teams to ensure simulation center is fully operational.Evaluates patient environments, equipment, and education gaps during simulations to identify safety threats and provides feedback to leaders for improvement.Supports team simulation research projects and utilizes current research findings in simulation to promote best practices.

Work Experience

How You’ll Be Successful:

At least 3 years experience in technology, healthcare simulations or multimedia systems Required

EDUCATION

Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Certified Healthcare Simulations Specialist (CHSOS) certification PreferredApplicable certifications to work experience Preferred
